Logey update 4/27

We have been telling everyone we know that Logan is just about ready for transplant and we've had a few people say there were going to call Anita our Transplant Coordinator. I don't know whether or not they really called but that they think enough of Logan to even contemplate donating a part of their body is sweet. This would all be so much more simple if Vidal or I could donate but apparently that's not part of God's plan for us.

Logan is feeling a bit better. We don't know what's still causing the diarrhea but hopefully it will go away soon. We're starting him back on two cans of Suplena since he's losing weight.

He has an appt next Monday for labs andTuesday in Corpus for his clinic visit. I doubt he will get activated on the list this month so I'm thinking maybe June. It will depend a lot on what his labs say and what his weight looks like. It's impossible to tell right now whether he will be up over 9 kg again by Tuesday but I think and hope he will.

Part of me is so excited about transplant and then part of me has started thinking about all the scary things in relation to transplant. I have to quiet my thoughts so I can get things done--otherwise they paralyze me.

Feeling tired tonight

I am feeling an overwhelming tiredness tonight. I think it is because as I always do, I am trying to control the uncontrollable. I am trying so hard to find Logan a kidney because I feel it's what I should do as his mother. I wish I could just give him mine. But, having only one, of course, I can't. Then too I forget that this is not between me and Logan and the drs. This is between God and Logan and they may include the drs and I in there somewhere.

I have such a struggle between trying my best to do the best for my kids and Logan's health and trying to control what cannot be controlled. I have no control over whether or not Logan gets a live donor kidney. I have no control over when a kidney will become available to him live or deceased. I have no control. I have to let go. I have to let God do his thing and trust in him that all will work according to his plan. I have such a hard time with letting go and trusting God even though I know it's what I have to do.

Okay God, I know I've said this a million times, I know. I'm letting go. I know that you will work this according to your plan. I know that one way or the other your plan always works much better than any plan I could have created. Last year I would not have chosen to have Grandma go home to Heaven the same week that Logan needed to go for surgery to start dialysis. No way would that have been my plan. And yet, your plan worked exactly as it should. I couldn't have taken care of both Grandma and Logan. I know that. And she was ready to go home to you. And so, yet again I am trusting in your plan. I give it to you. Please guide me where I need to go and help me to do the things that you've deemed in my control. Please help me to see where I need to let go. Amen.

Poor Logey : (

Still has whatever little bug he had the other day. He's had so many diarrhea dipes that his little behind is getting raw. And this latest poop (unfortunately went all over my bed in a dipe change) had blood streaks in it. My poor boy. So, I called Corpus and they said to take him down to one can of Suplena and with hold the Kaexalate for 3 days and see how he's doing on Monday. It makes me so nervous to not give him Kaexalate. His potassium was at 5 on Wednesday which isn't high but isn't low either considering he's had such bad diarrhea. But, since we're only giving him one can of Suplena he won't be taking in much potassium either. I know Dr Al-Akash knows what he is doing and is super smart about all of this stuff. But, I still worry about my little guy. Good thing is, his spirits are high and other than the bit of diaper rash, he doesn't seem bothered by it--just extra thirsty.

--Thank you to Lenky and Grace for making me feel well loved. : )

To the beach...

After we went to the stables and the turtle rehabilitation the kids would not let us leave the island without going to the beach. So, we went and we had a great time. It's only the second time Logey had been to the beach and the first time he was about 3-4 months old though he LOVED it then, he just slept in his towel on the sand. This time he was a bit skeptical.

Mommy-baby feet. Loved how he was squishing it between his toes.Mom...I don't know about this stuff.Definitely a bit skeptical. What's so great about this place? No skepticism for these guys. They love the beach!

To the turtle rehabilitation

After the stables we went to the turtle rehabilitation. They came to story hour at the library recently and Cristian is now so interested in saving the sea turtles. So, we thought we would visit while we were in the area.Jaden looking in at one of the baby turtles.
Cristian being Crush and Jaden just being a turtleCrush the turtle, well, he looks like Crush anyway.

To the stables....

We went to South Padre Island on Friday and we took the kids to my mom's best friend Jill's work. She works at a horse riding place. Can't think of the proper name in my sleepy state. But, the kids had a blast riding the horses and Logan wanted to go in to see the horses.

The boys watching the horses come in for lunch.
Logan trying to figure out how to get in.Mommy and baby horse.Doing what mommies and babies do best.Despite the look on his face, he was having a great time petting the horse.AHA! found a way in! Darn, now how do I get the rest of me in?Cristian on a pony (?) looked like a horse to me. Just a little bit smaller than the other ones. Next time he's going on one of the big horses. Jaden readjusting his helmet. Poor thing, it was so big on him. They had a great time though.Logey obsessed with this cat. He finally went and hit it a few times and it left, LOL. click to make bigger because it's a cute pic.

Belated Easter from Grandma

Vidal's mom sent the kids some Easter stuff but it got here a bit late. I told her they wouldn't care what day it got here, they would just be happy for stuff to open.

Logey and his basket and stuffed animal that Jaden has proclaimed his and is now named "Cutie Cuddles."

Homeschool

Want to know what a typical day of home school looks like for us? Well, not completely typical since 75% of the time Cristian does his work at the table but still.

Cristian doing school work while I cook.

What the little ones do while Cristian does his homework and I cook.
And just because it's cute, this is what Logan has learned: to crawl up onto the couch. The world is his now.
His brothers are quickly finding out that their toys are no longer safe with baby on the prowl.

Sweet big brother Cristian

On Monday my sweet big boy Cristian put his baby brother down for a nap while I was making a million and one phone calls related to Logan's health care.

Don't they look sweet together?

Tummy bug for Logey

Poor little guy has a low grade fever and what looks like a tummy bug. Hopefully it will disappear soon.

Easter pics

Yesterday was Easter and we had a great day! We went to church at 8:15 am. Yes, it is amazing that I got all of us there on time. Well, 10 mins late but I always say " 10 minutes late is the new on time." Well, at least for our family. After church we came home and had brunch which was bagels with salmon, cream cheese, and fresh tomatoes. YUMMM!!!! We did our Easter egg hunt quickly. Then we reluctantly sent Vidal off to work and the littles and I went to take a nap. It was such an awesome nap. I haven't gotten them both to nap at the same time in such a long time. It usually requires me lying down with them and that doesn't normally happen. Afterwards Mimi and Nana came over and we made lunch. It was a vegitarian meal and it was so good. We actually got everybody to bed at a decent hour. Another yay me!

Oh yeah, and at some point between all that the Easter bunny came to our house and dropped stuff off. : )Easter baskets in the morning.

Easter egg dying

The boys had a great time Easter egg dying and I think that I have perfected not letting them make a huge mess while doing it. Yay me!Jaden dying his eggs

Sleepy baby.

=What happens when babies forget to take their naps?
This.
And just because it's so cute.
And one more.

Of course, two seconds later the dog walked over him and nap was done. Awww... but the peace and quiet was so nice for those 5 minutes.

Easter bunny pictures

I haven't downloaded them yet but I wanted to leave a space for them so I don't forget.
